Annie Rickard Straus is a London born artist and designer now working in New York City. She is inspired by the energy and art in her environment and uses it to create bold, playful and inviting work. A prolific designer, she prefers to employ Indian ink, acrylic ink and enamels in her creations. Ms. Rickard Straus's work is influenced by some of her innovative contemporaries in design, including Anthony Burrill, Alison Carmichael, Louise Fili, Debbie Powell, Oliver Jeffers and Simon Garfield, many of whom incorporate text into their art work, as well as the early modernists, such as Marc Chagall. A graduate of Central St. Martins and the Glasgow School of Art, Ms. Rickard Straus has exhibited her work in London, Glasgow and New York.
